Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl.
I’m not the first person to say this buuuuuuuut, THIS YEAR IS FLYING FASTER THAN THE SPEED OF LIGHT! WHAT THE FRICK! SLOW DOWN!
Being half-way through the year already is slightly terrifying. But kind of exciting. Especially if there are release dates you are anticipating *stares at October which is holding on tight to Kingdom of Ash*
Today’s Top Ten Tuesday prompt is Best Books You’ve Read So Far in 2018.
In all honesty I’ve had an amazing reading year so far. And I don’t think it’s going to stop as we continue through 2018. We’ll probably be dead after reading some of the releases this year *glances back at October* but I’m sure we’ll all bounce right back and be super powerful because how can our hearts be broken any further right? ….. Right?
Any whoooooo. Here are my Top 10 Reads of 2018 so Far! :3
The Illuminae Files by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff
Gah. I want to re-read this series now….. I shouldn’t have thought about it. Honestly guys this series is going to be on any list I make about “Best Books Ever Read” Because…… it is one of the best series I have ever had the pleasure to devour.
I’ve heard the Audiobooks are really good for this series, it would be interesting to see how that format would tell the story.
A Court of Thorns and Roses Series by Sarah J Maas
Ah yes. Another series I ate that I wish I had CHEWED SLOWLY INSTEAD OF DEVOURING IT LIKE A MONSTER LIN, JEEEEEEZ!
This is another series I will definitely want to re-read someday.
AngelFall Series by Susan Ee
I read this series at the beginning of the year (literally….. it was the 1st of January when I started reading the first book hehe…. puns) and absolutely adored it. Also, fun fact, it greatly inspired my current WIP. Which is dystopian and dark and has squishy characters who aren’t that squishy so put thAT STICK DOWN THEY WILL EAT YOU!!!!
I again reaaaaaally want to re-read this series. Especially since it might help with my writing.
(Seriously though guys, if you haven’t read this series I highly recommend that you do. It was friggin amazing. I can’t stop think about it. I hope Susan Ee writes more books….)
Stars Above by Marissa Meyer
Considering I am complete Lunar Chronicles trash I don’t know why I waited till this year to read this……. but I am HELLA GLAD I DID!!!
Honeslty just seeing my fave characters being squish again made me so happy! AND THOSE LAST FEW CHAPTERS !!!!!! HOLY HEAVENS YES! MY BEANS! THEY GROW SO FAST!!! I’M SO PROUD AND HAPPY AND……. these aren’t tears I swear …
BUT MY SHIPS ARE SAILING!!!!!
The Coldest Girl in Coldtown by Holly Black
This was my first Holly Black book. And it won’t be my last I can promise you that. I haven’t read many Vampire books in my time (I haven’t even hit 20 but okay) but this one has to be one of the best??? I could be wrong. But for a standalone I thought it was epic and I loved everything about it.
Again, I loved it so much I’m going to re-read it. Probably quite soon. I feel like re-reading it now tbh. hmmmmmmmm.
Eliza and Her Monsters by Francesca Zappia
OOOOOooooo, some contemporary… How refreshing! (The rest of this list is actually contemporary….. is this pride I am feeling??)
I again read Eliza and her Monsters at the beginning of the year and loved it. There is art and writing and anxious but oh-so-precious characters. I loved it enough that it brings us to out next book on the list:
Made You Up by Francesca Zappia
I actually finished this book more recently (like a few days ago) and I again was awed by it. Not as much as Eliza, but it was still an enjoyable read. I mean the story was interesting and all, there was that mystery and I was trying to solve it but I was so focused on the characters because MY GOD THE CHARACTERS!! I really loved the characters in this book. I just seem to love Zappias’ writing in general. She’s become and auto buy author for me now.
Geekerella by Ashley Poston
You knew this was going to be on here. Everytime I think about this book I just love it even more that when I read it. It was so fluffy and cute and I just AHHHHHH I can’t. You can read my full review here!
Under Rose-Tainted Skies by Louise Gornall
I really enjoyed this one. It made me laugh, but it made me cry too. I loved Norah and I loved Luke and I adored Norahs’ relationship with her Mother, it was so buddy-buddy and I was here for it. I think I’m going to go and slip this one onto the re-read list too.
Night Owls by Jenn Bennett
Art. There is more art. Art books. Books about art and love. Why do they always attract us I wonder??? Oh yeahhhhhh…. because they are always beautiful inside and out.
You know they are…. don’t lie.
I was actually planning to pick up Jenn Bennetts’ other book Alex, Approximately. But I ended up reading this one instead (it was the art) and boy am I glad I did. The art in here was so different from the kind of art you usually read about though?? And it was beautiful…. Can I have more?????
There’s my 10 fave books of the year so far! (It’s very rare that I actually write a full ten, this is new and exciting!!!)
What’s your favourite book of 2018 so far?? Have you read any of the books on my list? Did you love them too?
Feel free to link up your TTT, and I’ll pop by and say hello!
